Hand Crafted in The Landscape.

Joanna is a ceramicist working predominately in parian porcelain paper clay from her studio on the Kent/Sussex Border.

My inspiration often starts with a found piece of wood or stone, I cast grasses and wild plants outside in clay. Using these delicate impressions I create sculptural vessels that rest gently on the found plinths, each piece finding their own centre”

Joanna Terry Joanna describes her process of making as a mediative experience; walking daily she connects with the changing seasons. Taking on principles of Shinrin-Yoku ( Forest Bathing), taking the time to listen to what is around you, seeing what lays beneath your feet and feeling the elements touch your skin. Through her process of making she hopes to bring a piece of the landscape into each piece she creates.
